You can buy a book nook two ways. A pre-built nook arrives finished, and you pay for the hours someone else spent assembling it, which is why those often cost two to three times as much as a kit. A DIY book nook kit arrives flat, as sheets of pieces and a set of instructions, and you build it yourself.

- Read the whole step before you glue anything. Dry-fit the pieces first.
- Work in sessions. An hour at a time is plenty.
- Good light matters more than good tools. Build near a window or a lamp.
- Leave the lights and the dust cover for last, once everything is dry.
